    Custom Machining – Reloading Dies

    NEW: Custom Polished Seating Stems

Forster Seating Stem polished to best fit a particular brand, model, and weight of bullet.

Send us four bullets and three cartridge cases prepped, not primed, but “ready to seat.” (We will keep one bullet used for polishing and return all other components.) Print, fill out, and include the Custom Polished Seating Stems Request Form with your order.

Bullet Contact DiagramWe will polish a new Seating Stem (DIESTRJ30-XXX or DIESTRJ30-UXXX) to optimize the use of your particular make and model of bullet for Forster seater dies. Deliverables:

    1. One customized stem.
    2. A dummy round seated using your new stem and your cartridge case.

    Seating Stems – Technical Background

Bullet design over the past several years has seen a large increase in the diversity of bullet profiles. Forster has always tried to accommodate all bullet types, but doing so requires constant re-engineering, which is becoming increasingly complex and difficult to accomplish.

To understand how the Forster Bench Rest and Ultra Micrometer seating stems work (see bullet contact diagram), the seating stem contacts the bullet on the ogive. The seating stem supplied with each die has more than enough room or clearance to work with a wide range of current commercial bullets offered.

$39.00, includes shipping within continental U.S. (lower 48 states).

NOTE – Changes in neck tension, changes in ductility (hardness) of brass, and use of a compressed powder charge are variables that will alter bullet-seating dynamics.

CUSTOM NECK HONING OF FORSTER FULL LENGTH SIZING DIE

We custom-hone the inside neck diameter by using a diamond stoning process. We enlarge the inside diameter to your specification to prevent oversizing of the case neck due to thick neck walls. You may require this service for multiple reasons:

    1. If you use some brands of brass cases with thicker neck walls.
    2. If you do not intend to outside neck turn case necks that have thickened after repeated firings.

Please send us your die along with the Custom Neck Honing Form, specifying the inside neck diameter. Note:

    1. No more than .008″ stock removal from your existing die neck diameter is possible.
    2. Honing is done in increments of one-half thousandth of an inch (.0005″), meaning that your specified inside diameter must be either .XXX0″ or .XXX5″.

$26.00, includes shipping within continental U.S. (lower 48 states). Please allow 1-3 weeks.

    CUSTOM Under-size EXPANDER BALL “E-10”

Specify exact outside diameter. We can make special expander balls,”E-10s,” up to three thousandths smaller than bullet diameter.

Retail price + $9 special machining fee + shipping. Please allow 1-2 weeks.

    REPOLISH SIZING DIE

To keep the inside of your dies scratch-free, ensure the outside and inside of your cases are free of powder residue and other debris, case necks are deburred and the die itself is kept clean. This precaution also applies to the “E-Z” Out Expander Ball on the Decapping/Expander Assembly, where brass chips and other debris may inadvertently be transferred to the case and die neck. Chips that result from trimming and deburring, or a case that has not been deburred, are especially damaging to die interiors. These chips can become embedded in the die interior. The resulting brass against brass effect “galls” or wears away minute pieces of brass on the case, and gets worse with each use of the die.
